Chennai Bangalore Expressway Master Plan
Chennai Bangalore expressway is the latest under-construction expressway linking Bangalore and Chennai.
This expressway will pass through the 3 south Indian states that are Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.
This expressway is also named National Expressway 7 (NE-7).
For the first time, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is managing and constructing the expressway in the South Indian states.

At present, the traveling time between Chennai and Bangalore through the available 326km Bangalore-Chennai bypass road is 5 to 7 hours. And daily 75000 or more vehicles pass through this bypass.
Over the completion of the Chennai Bangalore expressway, the traveling time between locations will get reduced by 2 to 3 hours
As the project cost is Rs. 17000 crores, out of it Rs. 5700 crores is planned to use for construction of the expressway.
Whereas, the remaining money is going to be used to acquire lands, project administration, implementation of the toll gate system, etc.

Chennai Bangalore Expressway Connectivity
The beginning of the Chennai Bangalore Expressway is in Hoskote of Bangalore in Karnataka. And it will be ending at Sriperumbudur of Kanchipuram district in Tamil Nadu.
After completion of the expressway, the route will pass through cities such as Bangarpet, Malur, Kolar Gold Fields, Chittoor, Palamaner, and Ranipet.
The construction of the expressway will be done on build to operate to transfer basis. And it will have double-decker elevated roads.
It will also have 103 minor bridges, 8 major bridges and 17 flyovers.
And the spur road from this expressway will be redirected to

- Kolar Gold Fields, Karnataka
- Konadaspura, Karnataka
- Katpadi, Tamil Nadu

Chennai Bangalore Expressway Current Status
Chennai Bangalore Expressway was planned to be completed by March 2023.
However, NHAI stated the reason for the delay in construction as “Due to the rain, we were facing a lot of challenges to increase the pace of expressway construction.
However, as of now, we have completed almost 15% construction of the expressway. That is 14.4 km out of a 96 km stretch from Tamil Nadu is done.”
Chennai Bangalore Expressway Completion Date
The Road Transport and Highway Minister said “The 285.3km Chennai Bangalore expressway is a 4 lane project, it is planned to save the travel time. And make vehicles pass through major towns easily.”
He further said “Over completion of this expressway, we will be able to minimize the logistic costs.
So, we plan to complete the overall expressway by June 2025.”
Chennai Bangalore Expressway: Impact On Real Estate
Chennai Bangalore Expressway is planned to help almost 60,000 vehicles to use per day.
As the construction of this expressway is already initiated in Tamil Nadu, the impact of it is already been reflected in the growth of the real estate sector.
Especially in Sriperumbudur, this is because it is the automobile hub. And Hospete is also one of them.
The road ministry stated that “This project will also push the growth of industries, infrastructure, and connectivity from Bangalore to Chennai. All this development will impact the economic development of the cities.”
CREDAI TN state president said “Growth in manufacturing and warehousing facilities are the other possibilities for this region. And cargo movement can also seek growth as this expressway is near the port.”
Chennai Bangalore Expressway Latest News
As per the latest update, almost 15% of the expressway construction work is completed. That is 14.4 km out of a 96 km stretch from Tamil Nadu is done.
The overall of 833.91 hectares land is need to be acquired in Tamil Nadu for this project. And as of now, 95 percent of the land is already acquired, and remaining of the land will soon be acquired, confirmed by the NHAI official.
