Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL)
The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link will be India’s longest sea link providing faster connectivity between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai cities through a 21.8 km six-lane bridge across Mumbai Bay. The MTHL connecting Chirle, Navi Mumbai to Sewri in Mumbai, will accelerate the economic growth in the Navi Mumbai region.
Predominantly, the real estate market will benefit from the improved connectivity option of Mumbai Trans Harbour Link. The MTHL will boost the emerging micro-markets in Navi Mumbai and trigger the multifaceted growth of the entire region.
Expected to be completed by 2023, MTHL remains one of the main infrastructure projects that will transform Navi Mumbai.
Overview: Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL)
On the Mumbai side, the MTHL will start from the point where Worli-Sewri link Connector and the eastern freeway meet.
On the mainland side, the bridge will connect to the NH4B via a cloverleaf interchange. By using NH4B, JNPT (South Side) and Panvel (North Side) can be reached. Also, the MTHL will be connected to the Mumbai Goa road NH17 and Mumbai Pune expressway. Also, the road extension connecting Chirle to Mumbai Goa Highway and Mumbai Pune Expressway is under planning.
Currently, the two bridges mainly the Thane Creek bridge or Vashi bridge and the Airoli bridge provide connectivity to Mumbai from the Navi Mumbai region. Both of these bridges will soon reach the saturation point and will not cope up with the increasing economic activities.
Secondly, the new economic development projects in the Navi Mumbai regions would need more robust integration with the Mumbai city. Following are some of the development plans and projects that will get the benefit from the MTHL Project.
- Navi Mumbai International Airport
- Navi Mumbai Integrated Special Economic Zone (SEZ)
- CBD – Taloja-Khandeshwar-ring metro
- Trans Thane Creek Industrial Area
- Thane-Vashi, Thane-Nerul and Nerul-Uran Rail link
- New container terminals at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust at Nhava Sheva
The Mumbai Trans Harbor Link project will bring rapid development to Navi Mumbai as the major developed industrial regions in Mumbai can be easily reached via MTHL.
The project will accelerate the economic activities in Navi Mumbai and boost the southern region of Navi Mumbai that has the highest potential for development.
Improved Connectivity
Mumbai Trans Harbour Link will provide the most effective connectivity option between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. The existing Panvel Sion Road is the busiest road that connects to Mumbai City. However, the road gets continuous traffic congestions, and therefore, needs a solid alternative.
With the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, the traveling time that currently takes 2 hours to reach Mumbai will be reduced to only 15-20 mins.
Industrial Growth
The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link road will enable easy access to Mumbai and Navi Mumbai industrial zones. The reduced traveling time to Navi Mumbai will allow the industries to settle in the affordable Navi Mumbai region.
Furthermore, MTHL will facilitate access to the Navi Mumbai International Airport. This proximity to the Navi Mumbai International Airport will play an important role in establishing multi-national companies in Navi Mumbai.
Property Price Appreciation
There is an upward trend for the properties in Navi Mumbai. This upward trend will continue with the upcoming Mumbai Trans Harbour Link infrastructure project.
The property buyers have shown keen interest in investing in the residential properties in Navi Mumbai. The open green spaces, peaceful neighborhoods, and quality residential projects in Navi Mumbai are some of the key factors that drive the real estate market in Navi Mumbai.
So, with the advent of MTHL, people working in the employment hubs in Mumbai will become inclined to buy properties in the Navi Mumbai region because of the reduced traveling time.
Also, the commercial properties will benefit the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link Road as the companies prefer Navi Mumbai due to the affordability and the proximity to Navi Mumbai International Airport.
