There will be a total of 20 metro stations in Navi Mumbai and among them, the construction of Phase 1 which is of 11 metro stations from CBD Belapur to Pendhar.
The Metro project has already received the RDSO certificate and Dynamic Clearance Certificate. The next step is to get the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety Certificate (CMRS).
CIDCO took the construction work of this Navi Mumbai Metro to serve around one lakh passengers by 2027. The Railway Board of Government of India has approved the stocks for CIDCO’s Navi Mumbai Metro Project on 11th February 2022.
The next process is to get approval from the Civil work inspection, the Railway Board, and the CMRS for proceeding with direct transport.
The metro project for the entire region of Mumbai and the suburban areas is planned and developed by MMRDA.
To develop a better transport system for the growing population in Mumbai, the DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) studied how to create a feasible metro project for Navi Mumbai.
Initially, the master plan for the Navi Mumbai Metro rail project was launched for six metro corridors which would cover 120 KMs only. However, after the plan was revised, DMRC suggested five metro corridors only with a distance of 106.4 kilometers.
The construction work for the finalized master plan was started in 2011 for Line 1. This plan was divided into three phases Phase 1 (Belapur – Pendhar), and the other phases were supposed to start by 2015. However, Phase 1 only took more than a decade to complete.

There are 5 Line routes in Navi Mumbai Metro project and currently the work for Line 1 Phase 1 is in progress.
The work for the 11.10 km distance of Line 1 started in November 2011 and it is expected that the task will be completed by early 2022.

The Metro map for Navi Mumbai Phase 1 Line 1 from CBD Belapur to Pendhar is provided.
The Navi Mumbai route of Phase 2 will be from MIDC Taloja to Khandeshwar with a distance of 10.30 km including eight metro stations. This line will be the extension of Line 1

The metro fare structure or ticket prices are kept nominal so that it is convenient for the passengers to travel. The fare will be lesser than the AC bus fare of NMMC mentioned by Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, Vice-Chairman of CIDCO.

Navi Mumbai Metro News: Railway Minister approved rolling stock for Navi Mumbai Metro Work
On 11th February 2022 the railway ministry has approved train coaches and electrical systems for Metro work of Navi Mumbai.
The Vice-Chairperson and Managing Director of CIDCO, Mr. Sanjay Mukherjee has stated that this approval was significant for the progress of metro construction work.
Navi Mumbai Metro News: Navi Mumbai Metro Line 3 is estimated to be completed by 2024
Due to the metro car shed issue, this project was delayed resulting in cost escalation by 10,000 crore. It is estimated that the work of Navi Mumbai Metro Line 3 will be completed by 2024.
There has been a proposal of extending the line by 2.5 km from Cuffe Parade to Navy Nagar. 27 stations will be on the line after the extension. Around Rs, 2301 crore cost is incurred additionally due to the extension.
