The Adani Group intends to create a twin-airport concept for the Mumbai & Navi Mumbai airports in order to reduce traffic at the Mumbai Airport. Moving turboprop aircraft operations at Navi Mumbai airport is the first phase.
The proposal calls for moving small aircraft flights to Navi Mumbai, which is expected to open for business in December 2024, in order to clear the runway area at the Mumbai Airport.
A key airline will also be moved by the group from Mumbai Airport towards the International Airport of Navi Mumbai. IndiGo, Vistara, & Air India are currently the main airlines that fly into the airport in Mumbai.
In addition to creating our terminals “The Destination Magnets for Customers,” the Adani Group plans to further build the property to add hotels, shops, and office space, offering ease through a super-app.
The seven operational airports run by the Adani Group are responsible for 23.7% of total passenger traffic in India, as per Airport data from December.
30.7% of freight was transported through airports operated by the Indian government and Adani in December.
