A new housing initiative bearing the name of PM Narendra Mod was introduced by the Eknath Shinde-Devendra Fadnavis administration. Maharashtra Finance Minister Fadnavis introduced the “Modi Awas Gharkul Yojana” programme in his first budget speech.
In the following three years, 10 lakh homes for the Other Minority Communities would be built as part of this programme. Modi is an OBC, and the plan is obviously intended to appeal to the OBC voter base in the state in preparation for the Lok Sabha & assembly elections next year.
“In the following three years, an investment of Rs 12,000 cr will be made available. Among them, three lakh homes for Rs 3,600 crore would be finished in 2023–2024 “said.
Fadnvis reaffirmed the government’s Prime Ministers House for All 2022, scheme, which announced the initiative to build 10 lakh residences in rural areas.
This year, four lakh homes will be built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. 1.5 lakh households would be for other groups, while 2.5 lakh homes, or 60% of the total, will be for SC/ST people.
