Belapur, Navi Mumbai and the Gateway of India will offer the eagerly anticipated water taxi service. Tuesday at Belapur Jetty, Minister of Maharashtra Port Development, Dadaji Bhuse, introduced the service on 7th February.
Infinity Harbour Transport, a privatized water taxi company, is Nayantara Shipping Pvt Ltd’s (NSPL)commercial and operational partner. The “Nayan XI” water taxi service, by NPSL, has space for 140 travellers on its bottom deck and an additional 60 on its higher, or premium class, deck.
The ferry service will reduce the current two-hour travel time between Mumbai and Belapur in half.
The round taxi between Belapur to Mumbai charges around Rs 1,000, compared to a two different business class boat ticket costing Rs 700.
NSPL partnered with MyboatRide.com for online ticket booking and sales.
At 8.30 am, the boat will leave Belapur for the Gateway of India, arriving there at roughly 9.25 am. Bhuse stated that the second voyage would depart from the Gateway at 6.30 p.m. and reach Belapur at 7.30 p.m.
