Mumbai’s transportation network is currently being improved by a number of large infrastructure projects. Mumbai is the financial centre of India. The Kharghar Turbhe Link Road (KTLR), one of the city’s upcoming major construction projects, is anticipated to lessen travel time from Thane, Mumbai and localities of Navi Mumbai to the Kharghar neighbourhood by 30 minutes.
The state has proposed Rs 2,195 Cr for the Kharghar-Turbhe Link Road project to relieve the significant traffic on the route of the Sion-Panvel highway.
The Kharghar Turbhe Link Road project will be implemented by CIDCO and the link road is anticipated to be finished in the upcoming three years.
The International Corporate Park in Kharghar will be connected to the arterial Sion-Panvel highway by this link road, which runs just opposite Juinagar Railway Station.
The infrastructure project has been hold-up because of a conflict over finance between CIDCO and the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation. CIDCO agreed to carry the entire project’s estimated cost after the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation opted not to fund this project.
Key Details of this infrastructure project:
- By avoiding the regular route via the Sion-Panvel Highway, Palm Beach Road and Thane-Belapur Road this link road from Turbhe to Kharghar by Juinagar ensures a seamless journey.
- The Kharghar-Turbhe Link Road, estimated Rs 2195 crore, is planned to relieve traffic on the Sion-Panvel route and reduce travel times by about 30 minutes.
- In order to finish the 5.490 km long KTLR, a 1.763 km tunnel is going to be constructed, which will travel through the Kharghar ranges. The corridor will have four lanes.
- The Complete Project Report /DPR has been developed by CIDCO, and initial construction work has already started. The procedure for getting the required permission from several agencies is in progress.
