In Pune, property taxes are the second-largest source of income. Pune is also alone in charge of levying and collecting payments for Pune’s property taxes.
Due to the municipal corporation’s plans to give area-specific information on the annual ratable value, property owners within the civic bounds will soon be able to verify that their tax bills are accurate.
The base price used to calculate the property tax is known as the annual ratable value (ARV). Both the formula for calculating tax and this information will be made available offline at the department’s headquarters in Shivajinagar and on the PMC website.
“Using the data given by PMC, people will be entitled to verify the specifics of the estate and the tax levied against them. Property owners can address any concerns they may have with the city administration, according to Ajit Deshmukh, director of the PMC’s property tax division.
The information can be viewed between December 20 and January 15 during PMC business hours, according to PMC authorities. To the tax department, any complaints regarding incorrect value must be made in writing.
Residents applauded the action and pushed the PMC to establish it as an annual event.
“It will be beneficial if individuals are aware of the specifics of the property tax in advance. Generally, we make payments without checking them because we assume they are accurate. There won’t be any room for doubts anymore, though. The approach is effective, and PMC ought to make it a yearly event,” according to Kothrud citizen Gauri Kulkarni.
The prompt rectification of bills would lessen future headaches for property owners, according to Satara resident Rucha Joshi.
