The state government announced on Tuesday that the federal government’s major PMAY-R (PM Awas Yojana- Rural) programme has received a funding boost to the tune of Rs 1,671 crore.
The change occurred a few days after the development department of UP Rural asked the Center for funding to build a new batch of residences under the programme.
According to a senior official, deputy CM Keshav Maurya wrote to the centre to propose building 8,62,767 homes as part of PMAY-R. Up to 26 lakh homes have so far been constructed in UP under the programme.
Rural Development Minister GS Priyadarshi stated that for house development under PMAY-R, the state and central governments will contribute in a 60:40 ratio.
For more than 8 lakh homes, he claimed that the Rural Development Ministry has approved Rs 6,212 crore. According to him, the applicants of the housing programme have received the first instalment of Rs. 1,671 crores.
He claimed that recipients are being assigned houses according to their respective categories without prejudice. He stated that “Finances have been allocated for the Scheduled Tribes, Castes, and other classifications”
